Greco-Roman wrestlers kicked off The European Wrestling Championship in Kaspysk on April 30. Preliminary and semifinal matches in the next weight categories 55, 63, 77, 87 и 130 kg followed them. Russian wrestlers made it to the finals in the three weight categories. Roman Vlasov (77 kg) won his opponent from Paris Elvin Mursaliyev in a rematch (4:0). Bekhan Ozdoev (87 kg) won Islam Abbasov from Azerbaijan in a heated match (4:3). Vitaly Shur (130 kg) almost gave the victory to the Georgian wrestler Kajaija but took a winning score on the last minute. Two wrestlers lost in the semifinals and will compete for Bronze medal. Vasily Topoev (55 kg) was leading with an impressive score (7:0) but was not able to keep the score and lost to Azeibaijani wrestler Eldeniz Ezizli. Zaur Kabaloev (63 kg) lost to a technical action to a Romanian wrestler Mihai Mihut (5:7).
