Minister ad interim of the physical training and sports of the Republic of Daghestan Magomed Magomedov held a meeting on the issue of the Palace of Sports and Youth named after Ali Aliev in Kaspiysk readiness to host Europe Wrestling Championship this spring.
While talking to the administration and staff of the sports object, Magomed Magomedov emphasized significance of the upcoming event.
“I had said it many times and I’ll say it again. All the questions connected with preparing Championship of Europe have to be treated with responsibility. By the beginning of Championship of Europe the Palace of Sports must fully meet all the necessary demands of hosting such competitions. Prestige of not only the republic, but of the whole country depends on this event. Everything must be on the highest level”, he said.
Minister also reminded that last year UWW and Russian Wrestling Federation delegations visited the Palace of Sports and Youth named after Ali Aliev in order to get acquainted with the venue. Magomedov defined the deadline for finishing the reconstruction of the Ali Aliev Palace of Sports.
“We were given some recommendations from UWW concerning the reconstruction of the Palace of Sports and Youth named after Ali Aliev. We have taken them into consideration and currently the expanding of the warm-up hall is almost finished. Now we need to pay special attention to reequipment of a tribunes sector for VIP guests and creating conditions for the work of press and referees. All the planned reconstructions must be fulfilled by the 1st of March”, Magomedov noted.
The first testing of the renewed Palace of Sports and Youth named after Ali Aliev, as the head of the sports institution said, will be an international wrestling tournament, which will take place shortly before the Championship of Europe.
“Tournament in which four wrestling states will participate: Russia, Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan, will become some sort of rehearsal for us before the Championship of Europe. These competitions will test our readiness for the Championship of Europe”, the minister emphasized.
Also matters concerning participants’, guests’ and spectators’ safety, organizing an access control system and other questions were discussed at the meeting.
It should be noted that the total area of the modern multifunctional sports complex named after Ali Aliev is 17 thousand square meters. The seating capacity of the venue is 5500 seats with ability for expansion up to six thousand.
